The point of using Calibres server is that a lot of the book metadata is available, so you have more than author/title to help you choose books. I uninstalled version 6 and reinstalled 5.44 and now am able to transfer books from the desktop to the IPad. As I said, the 5.44 version on the desktop would connect, sync, and transfer the selected book to the IPad. Your books are added to the Books playlist in your iTunes library. To send epubs or PDFs from calibre to iTunes: Select the book(s) to send from your calibre Library window, then click Send to device. However, when I updated to Calibre 6, the Calibre Companion on the IPad would successfully find and connect with Calibre on the desktop, but it would never sync. Select Connect/ShareConnect to iTunes to connect iTunes as a Reader device. Up to now I have always been able to send books from my desktop (Windows) to my Ipad2 using the wireless feature of Calibre on the desktop computer. ![]()
